THE TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - 21st August 2022

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, We are reminded in this Sunday’s readings that God’s ways are not our ways. Certainly we cannot ever hope to set limits on His actions or will. He has every right to call to His Kingdom anyone He chooses and we have no exclusive right to a place at His table.

This is important for us to meditate upon, for Our Lord, out of His great love for us, won redemption for us on the wood of the cross BUT our eternal destiny is in our own hands. While that redemption of Christ is offered to us freely, we have to accept it by conforming ourselves to a new way of living - a life lived for and in Christ. A life led in conformity to the will of Our Lord. A life that pleases Him. He does not force His gift of salvation upon us. It is offered and His greatest hope is that we respond in generosity and love.
